My Story

Hello and welcome to Jones Elite Training (JET). My name is Coach Jones and I am the founder of JET. I currently serve as the director for track and field at Charlotte Christian School. I am a former College Coach and have coached at every collegiate level as well as youth, middle and high school. I last served as Director of cross country and track and field at Division II CSU East Bay (2011-2015), Assistant Head Coach at Division I Morgan State University (2007-2011), Head sprint coach at NJCAA Central Arizona College (CAC,2003-2007) where I was a two time National Coach of the year and led my teams to 7 NJCAA team titles, and assistant coach at Division III Wilmington College (OH,2001-2002). This experience and my relationships nationwide allows me to train athletes at a very high level, and provide opportunities for recruitment to colleges and universities if they have the talent, work ethic, performance marks, and grades.

Since establishing JET in 2018, JET athletes have won a state sprint title in North Carolina every year from 2018-2023. JET athletes have finished the season nationally ranked in the top 10 every year, and have earned USATF ALL-AMERICAN status as well. At the end of the 2022 high school season, JET athletes amassed a total of 9 individual North Carolina State titles, two relay state titles, a relay national title, and 5 AAU individual national champions! In 2020 JET athlete Cameron Rose was recognized as the Gatorade Athlete of the year and the #1 ranked sprinter in the nation indoor. In 2019 I was the #1 rated private track and field and football trainer in the states of North and South Carolina and am ranked in the top ten nationally in both sports according to Coachup.com rankings. In 2019 I coached 8 athletes who were All-State track athletes in their state including North Carolina #1 sprinter Cameron Rose who was state champion in both the 100 and 200. A total of 11 JET athletes earned All-American status in track and field. In 2018 two JET athletes in North Carolina won high school state titles. Duke football signee Jalen Colman in the 100M and Sophomore Cameron Rose won the 200M and was also the New Balance 200M champion. A total of 8 JET athletes earned all-state honors in North and South Carolina, and I coached the #4 ranked hurdler (13-14 age group), and #1 youth sprinter (age 11).

Education: I hold a master’s degree in physical education from The Ohio State University, a bachelor’s of science degree in physical education from Morgan State University, and an Associate of Arts degree in parks and recreation management from Central Arizona Junior College. In addition, I served for four years as the USA track and field Pacific Association Men's open outdoor track and field chair (2011-2014).

Athletic highlights: As a college student athlete at Morgan State University, I competed in both football and track and field. While at Morgan, I was a four-time MEAC and IC4A champion in the 200 meters and still hold the indoor 200 meter stadium record at Cornell University (1998). I achieved NCAA division I All-American status in the 200 meters. Prior to Morgan State, I attended Central Arizona Junior College where I helped lead my team to a national championship.  In high school, I was the 1994 Arizona state champion in the long jump and triple jump.  In football, I am a National semi-pro football hall of fame inductee and AZ high school hall of fame inductee.
